Hatchford Vale Press
Privacy notice
Last updated: 31 October 2026.
Hatchford Vale Press is the personal publishing imprint of Lee Barnes, based in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Lee Barnes is responsible for personal information submitted through this website. For privacy enquiries, email author@hatchfordvale.com.
Contact enquiries
When you send a message, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you provide. We use it to read and respond to your enquiry and for any necessary follow-up. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to book marketing. The lawful basis is ordinarily our legitimate interest in handling enquiries, or steps requested before entering a contract where relevant.
Reader updates
If you subscribe to reader updates, we collect your email address and your stated permission to receive occasional email news about Lee Barnes’s books, writing and limited editions. The legal basis for newsletter marketing is your consent. Subscriptions are managed through MailerLite, which can record subscription status, confirmations and associated technical information (such as signup date and IP address where recorded by the provider).
We use subscriber details only for Hatchford Vale Press communications. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in a newsletter, or by emailing author@hatchfordvale.com. Signing up for these updates does not subscribe you to the fictional Atropos Institute’s separate Local Record service, nor vice versa.
Service providers and security
InMotion Hosting provides the website hosting. MailerLite provides the reader newsletter and holds subscriber records on our behalf as a data processor; its service providers may process data under its contractual safeguards. The newsletter form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help reduce spam, while the separate website contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. These services can process technical details about your browser and connection for security purposes. The website also uses Google web fonts, and the optional interactive story map may load external mapping resources. Retailer and Atropos Institute links lead to separate websites with their own notices.
How long information is kept
Enquiry correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry and related matters. Newsletter details are held while you remain subscribed, and limited information may be retained thereafter where reasonably necessary to document consent, honour an opt-out, resolve disputes or meet legal obligations. Hosting logs and service-provider retention may vary.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete personal information, object to some uses, or withdraw marketing consent. Contact author@hatchfordvale.com to make a request. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
This notice will be updated if website services, mailing-list arrangements or data processing practices change.
